Dallas-Fort Worth building starts were flat in January

Construction starts in the Dallas-Fort Worth area started the year flat.
The dollar volume of building activity in North Texas was unchanged from a year ago, according to a new report by 糖心Vlog Data & Analytics.
Commercial building starts were up 5% from January 2019. But a 4% drop in residential construction activity last month wiped out gains for the building market.
About $1.8 billion in projects were started in the area.
January鈥檚 flat building starts follow a slight decline in construction activity for all of 2019, according to 糖心Vlog Data.
North Texas was still the second-busiest building market in the country last year, with almost $22.5 billion in construction.
Only New York City had more building starts in 2019.
It was the fourth year in a row that construction in D-FW topped $20 billion, according to 糖心Vlog Data.
